Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make some modifications to the design?
Yes. If you buy the AutoCAD file, you can take this file to a local professional or draftsman and have him make the modifications for you, and also create the structural, plumbing, electrical plans and the site plan.
What is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is the standard file type for 2D architectural plans. Pretty much any architect, engineer or draftsman can open and edit AutoCAD drawings. With the AutoCAD file, you can have a local professional modify the plans for you.
How do I know which version to buy?
I highly recommend you buy the AutoCAD 2D file, as it allows you to make changes to the design.
What is the scale and paper size?
- For the Imperial version, the paper size is Arch D, the standard for architectural plans in the U.S. The scale used is 1/4" to the foot, which is the standard used for house plans in the U.S.
- For the Metric version the paper size is A1, and the scale is 1:50, the worldwide standards for architectural plans.
How much does it cost to build this house?
It depends on several factors: Location, soil quality, construction method, finishes, etc. In Guayaquil, Ecuador, you can expect to spend around USD $500-$700 per square meter of construction. For other countries, please consult a local professional.
How can I purchase the plans?
You just need to click on the "Buy" button of the version you want and you'll be taken to the payment page. Here you can enter your credit card or PayPal details. Immediately after payment, you'll see a "download" button so you can download your files.
What if I change my mind after I make the purchase?
No problem. If you purchased the PDF and you now want the AutoCAD file, I can send you a PayPal invoice for the difference. If on the other hand, you decide you don't like the plans, just contact me asking for a refund and I'll refund you 100%, no questions asked.
Why don't you include the structural, plumbing and electrical plans?
Because those must be created by local professionals in accordance with local regulations, local construction methods and your personal preferences.
What software do you use?
I create the designs in SketchUp in 3D and render them with LightUp.
